Reconstruction of a shelter
Reconstruction and improvement of a dog shelter taken over by our association. A few weeks ago, we took over a dog shelter in the Bekaa Valley, Lebanon.
What we discovered left us deeply shaken.
The dogs were living in extremely harsh conditions: injured, abandoned, weakened, sometimes disabled, and often traumatised.
Some had nothing left. No stability. No security. No proper space in which to live with dignity.
We could have looked away.
But we chose to stay.
Since that day, we have been trying to rebuild this shelter step by step.
Cleaning.
Repairing.
Feeding.
Caring for them.
Making the spaces safe.
Building shelters.
Restoring a little peace and dignity to animals that have known abandonment.
Every day brings its own set of challenges: a lack of resources, building work, medical care, food, emergencies, and constant repairs.
But despite everything, we carry on.
Because behind every dog, there is a life.
A gaze.
A suffering.
And sometimes, just a little hope.
Today, our shelter is home to many vulnerable dogs who depend entirely on human help to survive with dignity.
We are doing everything we can, but we need support to continue this reconstruction.
Donations will enable us, in particular, to:
improve the dogs’ living conditions;
fund veterinary care;
purchase food and supplies;
repair and secure the shelter;
build more suitable and protective spaces.
We are also looking for volunteers and people willing to offer practical support for this compassionate and responsible initiative.
Our aim is not simply to keep dogs alive.
Our aim is to restore a little dignity to them.
